Climate Change is recognised as a serious threat to the UK and global environment. The consequences are still being understood, but the potential impact is far reaching. Some experts believe changes such as the increase in serious flooding in the UK are directly related to climate change.

The UK signed up to an international convention at Kyoto in 1997 to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. Strategies to achieve this include energy saving, carbon taxes and importantly, increased use of renewable energy. The target set is for 10% of electricity to come from renewable sources by 2010.
